Wedding and other social based businesses may fair better than average in 2009.  While the extravagent weddings might be cut to a minimum, I think we will learn that this industry has modified it’s products to maintain a full calendar.   Formal and leisure social activity will increase as people take this time to focus back on the non-professional needs.  Some due to unemployment.

For the people that have put career above relationship, this year the tables are turned.  I’d expect to see many people also looking for training and education.  And also look at the social media space as a location people will spend time.

Facebook has hit 175,000,000 users (Cnet News / Dave Morin) and appears to be positioned for even faster growth.  The user experience is great and very focused on adding the “friends” who have yet to show up on Facebook.
